Highlight Share Privacy Policy

Highlight Share is designed to help you highlight selected text on webpages, manage those highlights, and create shareable links. Your highlights are stored locally in your browser. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or transfer it to third parties.

Information We Process

Highlight Share may process the following information to provide its features:

Selected webpage text that you choose to highlight.
The URL of the webpage where a highlight is created.
Highlight metadata, such as color, position information, and creation time.
Extension preferences, such as theme, language, and display settings.

How We Use Information

We use this information only to provide user-facing extension features, including:

Saving and restoring your highlights on the correct webpage.
Showing your highlights in the side panel.
Copying highlighted text when you click a copy button.
Generating shareable links for selected highlights when you request them.

Local Storage

Highlight data and extension settings are stored locally in your browser using Chrome extension storage. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your highlights.

Clipboard Access

Highlight Share uses clipboard write access only when you click a copy or share button. The extension writes highlighted text or generated share links to your clipboard. It does not read your clipboard contents.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer your highlighted text, webpage URLs, browsing data, or extension settings to third parties. We do not use your data for personalized advertising, retargeting, profiling, or market research.

Remote Transmission

Highlight Share does not transmit your highlights to our servers. When you copy or share a link, the data is placed on your clipboard or encoded into the link you choose to use.

Data Retention and Deletion

Highlights and settings remain in your browser until you delete them, clear your browser data, or uninstall the extension. You can delete highlights from within the extension interface.

Security

We limit permissions to those needed for the extension's features and keep user data on the local device whenever possible.

Children's Privacy

Highlight Share is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are made, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
